Amrita Rao was born on June 17 in the year 1981 in Mumbai. She is a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin by birth and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. The model turned actress has a sound educational background as well. She did schooling from the Canossa Convent Girls High School at Mahim, Mumbai. She graduated in Psychology from the Sophia College as well. It was at this time in her college life that she faced an audition for the television commercial for the Fairever Fairness Cream brand. The girl started a career of appearing in the television commercials as a model then. The remarkable advertisements of her are the Cadbury Perk Karwa Chauth advertisement and also the Bru Coffee commercial. These two advertisements helped her gain the attraction of the biggies in the Bollywood industry and she started receiving offers from the directors for appearing in the big screen.










It was with the movie ‘Ab Ke Baras’ that the actress made her debut in the year 2002. She played the role of Anjali Thapar in the movie who takes a rebirth again in the role of Nandini in the movie. Her trail continued and she did hit the screen again with the 2003 successful movie ‘Ishq Vishk’ im which she played the role of Payal.
